I managed to squeeze in a bit of recording at #SingularityU, under the auspices of an audio aid to abating audience anarchy as each lecture session begins. Enjoy…

Acapella, with reverb/EQ/mixing. No words this time. Unless you count “bow”, “oo”, and “hey”, that is.

Last night I recorded some unoriginal guitar stuff. It’s not very good, but I want to publish more recordings before I go to CA for the summer and probably lose recording capabilities, so have at.

Today’s attempt at song! I still fail at writing words, so these words are totally improvised, and may or may not make sense. But I hope you will agree that the piano chords, at least, are superb. :-)

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a solo piano recording. As per usual, I made this up as I went along.

A short theme from the Wizard of Oz, sung a cappella in a very weird style. I thought of this basic idea while walking across campus this afternoon, and decided I had time to record it for your listening pleasure(?).

Hand drums, terrible electric guitar, electric piano, and terrible clarinet. An interesting mix, overall!

Some pointless piano noodling, fading back and forth between my K2000VP’s idea of a piano and the new Garritan Steinway sampler I had just bought.

“The Little Drummer Boy.” It’s a nice a cappella version with some weird vaguely blues-inspired delayed melody over it. I’m not really sure what I was thinking.

An attempt at playing clarinet. It’s bad. Really, you shouldn’t listen.

“The Snowman” again, but with significantly more artistic liberty in terms of vocal harmony.

Latin guitar/percussion/vocal vamping. Not actually very authentically Latin at all. Whatever. :D

A prototype arrangement of a Jewish tune, “Eshet Chayil.” All voices are me, and all were recorded in about a couple hours without actually writing down any music.

“Carnelians,” a piece written by sci-fi author Catherine Asaro as part of her Diamond Star project, was arranged by me as above (all K2000VP-synthesized instruments). She wound up re-recording it in an actual studio, but based on some of the ideas I introduced here. (I like my version better, but I’m obviously biased. :D)
